first day of school

yesterday was my first day of school.

I left work around 3pm and it took me about 45 minutes to get there. All of my congestion was getting to the expressway in Oak Brook. I seriously caught EVERY stoplight from where I work to where I get on the expressway. But I got there about an hour early. Chicago traffic into the city around 3:30ish isn't so bad, I was able to move pretty well. I had no problem finiding a parking spot on campus. So I found out that one of my classes was moved, and I was very pleased, because now, the walk between my Tuesday classes is now < 5 minutes. ;)

They combine students into one lecture, which kind of makes sense, so my lecture classes had about 40-50 people in them. My labs will have 10-12 each. My control systems class seems like I can do well. I already took that class at Valpo, minus the lab, got a B+? I did pretty good I remember, and so I have an advantage. I'd like to do some graduate research in control systems later on in my career if I decide to some research on the side. I had read the introductory chapter aleady and was kind of bored when the prof lectured on it in class, but it would be kind of difficult to a newbie at control systems.

That reminds me, I would like to buy a new and updated student version of matlab and the controls toolbox but the mathworks website is kind of screwy and rejected my credit cards. I am going to have to give them a call tomorrow. I think I can coast with my older version of matlab, but I should get an updated copy.

My Electric Motors Drives class does not have a book, only references, and I had already bought one of them thinking that it was required! It is a 3 hour class on Tuesdays ;( , and it was long. It helped not having a clock in the classroom. I need to review my EMF and my books!

Oh I didn't mention that I came back to work at 10pm to do some work on a project until I decided to leave at 11pm.

I got home at 11 and immediately went to bed.

Got Up for work at 6:20 and left at 6:40 for a meeting.
