Today I watched a movie called "ShopGirl" written by Steve Martin. He also casted as Ray Porter in the movie.
Shopgirl

The move is definately worth watching. I actually saw this in the movie theatre when it came out and my friend from France was kind enough to purchase this through Amazon.com as a gift. (BTW, is it odd that I have an Amazon.com wish list and someone actually buys me DVD gifts?, my boyfriend doesn't like it but I've gotten some nice DVDS from this pen pal in France.)
In the movie Mirabelle as played by Claire Danes is a poor single young lady who came out of college with a load of debt. I assume she earned an art degree. Like many starving artists I think it is hard to get started in the business. She took a job as a shop girl.
Surprisingly for her job she is still able to afford a car (in LA), an apartment, reasonable furniture, gas, and get by. She is a size 2. Very skinny and very beautiful. I would like to be a size 2...........
She dates Ray Porter who is TWICE her age. He is RICH but not arrogant.
Now I myself think older men are attractive, but not that old. It is social taboo unless you live in like a third-world country or are a member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Do you think teens should be pressured to marry this guy? Now girls, doesn't this guy look S-C-A-R-Y?!!

One of my girlfriends mentioned that while she was college age she had a relationship with a man in his 40's.
Would you ever do that? I have an age limit myself. I think it would be 10 yrs more than me. Is that too old? (My dad is probably reading this and thinking that I'm crazy......)
In the movie, Mirabelle is so devoid of love that she decides to fool around with this man. I originally thought she was just wanting sexual attention, but the author Steve Martin, did convey that Mirabelle, like so many women, need more, need to be truly loved.
Well Mirabelle, I'd saw take some advice from your friend Lisa in the movie and get some of the toys she has, aka get a ******** :)
The movie is definately a good romantic chic-flic and touches on your romantic emotions. Good Job Steve Martin, and for man you seem to understand women!
